In terms of our hiring process start-to-finish, though, we had become “a size 10 foot still trying to fit into a size 7 shoe”—which simply cannot be done, at least not without a good bit of pain to the foot and damage to the shoe . . . Knox County needed a more effective process for gathering completed employment applications from potentialnew workers (and then tracking them through the system), and we needed it fast!

After surveying the HR staff of other rapidly-growing Texas Panhandle hospitals, our office contacted Smart Hires to find out whether or not the ATS service our HR friends reported it offers might be the solution we were seeking. And it was!

Today, Knox County links the Careers page of its website (https://knoxhospital.org/employment/) to the online employment application services of Smart Hires’ website; the HR Office and hiring managers are notified by Smart Hires ATS that new applications have been completed and await review, and each of those candidates is thanked by email for applying for job openings. Completed employment applications are archived by Smart Hires for our use; when department directors have hired qualified applicants and the job posting is closed, candidates not hired are notified by
Smart Hires via email and thanked for their interest in employment.

Our HR Office now has “a size 10 shoe for its size 10 foot”—and at a cost we find very affordable annually. In my opinion, healthcare facilities and educational institutions and governmental agencies—small, large, and/or growing-rapidly but not already using a process like this one—truly can benefit from contacting Smart Hires today for more information about its solutions. KCHD’s HR Office staff is glad we did!” Dr. David Troublefield,Director of Human Resources, Knox County Hospital District- Knox City, TX
